What we hope to do

The Rainbow Fund Homework Teaching Project currently pays the salaries of nine teachers, who tutor about 140 children. We have promised to maintain our current level of support until the end of 2015. But we would like to help many more children. More standing orders for Gift Aid would enable us to make a commitment to more teachers. With the aid of enlightened South African businessmen, a new purpose-built Community Centre has been constructed, replacing the old shipping containers which previously housed the project.

We are also continuing to provide £500 a month for food and other necessities. A library fund has also been set up in memory of Margaret Legum, who died in 2008. Grants from the Zebra Trust in the UK have enabled us to support the School's bursary fund for ex-pupils in secondary education. Funding for day trips for pupils is another objective. For our part, we will continue to hold local fundraising events and look forward to your support.
